people seem to really *not* know the difference between being nice, and not having boundaries.

having boundaries, confronting people when they cross them, and being willing to “make it awkward” when you need to stand up for the right things in the right moments, do not stop a person from being nice
I will say there is something lost in not having a clock a few minutes off. It's something whimsical in a world of microsecond correctness.

Caught it because my lights auto turn off at midnight, but my ereader still read 11:55
I'm passionately against AI slop. I also use LLMs constantly to make tools and workflows art. To me, there is no contradiction because 'using AI' isn't one activity. Writing a prompt and building tools are different acts, with a fundamentally different relationship to conceptualisation and creation.

The atmosphere runs on the internet
@aaron.bsky.team would it be better for your safety and mental health if you posted policy stuff from @moderation.bsky.app ?

It might make a conversation a bit more focused in a little less reactionary? (perhaps I’m being naive)
Do any or the @standard.site implementations offer RSS feeds?
Loginsplosion ! Let’s get this into the hands of users sooner than later so we can get real world feedback.
Evelyn @kandake.africa
The login discourse is triggering an explosion of new login interfaces and flows. I want to see more of this as honestly it's just devs discussing how it should be done and I'm not seeing enough user feedback.

Keep experimenting and party on.

If you understand any of these words, you’re very online.

5-panel "jesse wtf are you talking about" meme
1) se geyges caught a 3day for a really milequetoast kirkmas joke
2) he spent the time substacking and queueing up a 50+ post tweetstorm
3) he dropped it last night: huge aella/ea/sf/yuds explainer. now jamelle bouie is asking about the sankey diagram
4) aella reactivated to ask a lot of questions already answered by her shirt and then immediately got her blue check
5) final shot of walter reacting replaced with the iconic yudkowsky freaking out image
Made a few little updates to my radio today. #radioghost can now pull in #nowPlaying information and ticker it across the screen. Tuning now works a lot better: because stations aren't always broadcasting, it keeps seeking until it finds the next available station.

I'm delighted to announce that
@eurosky.social and our brilliant friends from @gandersocial.ca are partnering up!

Ahead of Canada's associate EU membership announced by
@vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu this morning, we'll be weaving our social internets closer.
Blocking Nazis and fascists doesn’t make a network an “echo chamber”. People need to stop gaslighting us into thinking we have to listen to Nazis and debate them in order to be informed. This is where #WSocial ’s apparent enthusiasm for bringing the far right into the conversation worries me.
My Poasts

Documenting the unique features of Mu that can't be found in the Bluesky app.

Different politics, identical structure: wealthy insiders, community infrastructure they didn't build, and openness performed just long enough to matter. The establishment always wants its own internet.

Atomic design got us from thinking about pages to thinking about components, but we don't need to keep carrying the periodic table around.

The Atmosphere needs a distinct brand identify, better tools for builders, a new UX for users, and a small empowered group willing to build it all.

How AI may quietly dismantle the feedback loop that turns inexperienced people into competent ones, and why my work matters to me.

Machines can’t make sense of the world for us. Generating content that looks like knowledge isn't the same as producing it. We lose everything by confusing the two.
